Mission & Vision
My vision for Bellevue is a community where thoughtful growth goes hand-in-hand with environmental responsibility. By creating more housing options through strategic partnerships and smart policies, we can empower residents and protect our natural treasures for generations to come
A Vision for Bellevue:
Building a Stronger, More Inclusive Community
My vision for Bellevue centers on building a stronger, more inclusive community through thoughtful and balanced growth. We face a pressing need for more housing options, and my approach prioritizes strategic policies and partnerships that incentivize diverse development. By fostering an environment where more housing can be built responsibly, we can alleviate the financial pressures on our residents, allowing them to more fully participate in our community and invest in their futures. This focus on increasing housing supply is not just about numbers; it's about creating a city where people of all backgrounds and income levels can afford to live, work, and contribute to the vibrant fabric of Bellevue.
Crucially, this vision for growth is intrinsically linked to environmental responsibility. As a board member of the Seattle Aquarium, I deeply value our natural environment and believe that progress must be sustainable. My approach seeks to balance our housing needs with the imperative to protect our natural treasures for future generations. By implementing smart land-use policies and encouraging environmentally conscious development, we can ensure that Bellevue grows in a way that enhances, rather than diminishes, the exceptional quality of life that defines our city. My commitment is to finding creative solutions that allow Bellevue to thrive economically and environmentally, creating a truly resilient and desirable place to call home.
My Highest Priorities
Housing & Urban Planning
Housing is a basic need, yet Bellevue’s rising costs have made it increasingly out of reach for many. Limited supply and high demand have priced out too many in our community. As your City Council candidate, I’m committed to expanding housing options across all income levels—so more people can afford to live and thrive in the city they love.
Childcare
Bellevue must strengthen its childcare system to better support families. Too many parents—especially single parents—face the impossible choice between work and affordable, reliable care. This growing gap isn’t just a personal burden; it’s a community issue that affects our workforce and the well-being of our children.
Environmental Stewardship
Extreme weather, like last November’s bomb cyclone, highlights the urgent need for strong environmental action. We must both prepare our community for future climate challenges with resilient infrastructure and emergency planning, and protect our environment long-term—ensuring clean air, safe water, and a healthy future for all.
Economic Development
My vision for Bellevue’s economic growth centers on innovation, sustainability, and equity—especially by supporting our local small businesses. These businesses power job creation, fuel innovation, and shape our city’s unique character. On City Council, I’ll champion policies that help them thrive and drive a vibrant, resilient economy for all.
Public Safety
Bellevue’s future depends on a strong commitment to public safety for all. That means addressing root causes of crime, supporting law enforcement, and building strong community partnerships. I support expanding co-responder teams - pairing officers with mental health professionals - to ensure thoughtful, effective responses to crises and create a safer, more compassionate city.
Bellevue: A Small Town Feel with Big City Challenges
Bellevue is unique. We cherish the close-knit community, the friendly faces, and the accessible green spaces that give us that treasured "small town feel." Yet, we also face the realities of a growing urban center: rising housing costs, increasing traffic, and the imperative to ensure sustainable development. My vision for Bellevue is to navigate these "big city challenges" with thoughtful solutions that prioritize preserving the very essence of what makes our city so special. This means fostering responsible growth that respects our neighborhoods, invests in our infrastructure, and actively works to maintain affordability so that everyone who loves Bellevue can continue to call it home.
Addressing these challenges requires a collaborative spirit and innovative thinking, drawing on the strengths of our community. We can tackle issues like housing by incentivizing diverse development and streamlining processes, while simultaneously protecting our environment and enhancing our transportation options. My commitment is to finding that crucial balance – embracing progress while safeguarding the qualities that give Bellevue its distinct character. By working together, we can ensure that our "small town feel" thrives even as we meet the demands of a growing and dynamic city.
