Embracing a Commitment to Building Diverse Housing

Housing

Housing stands as an undeniable cornerstone of human existence, a fundamental need for security and well-being. Yet, here in Bellevue, the soaring cost of housing presents a significant challenge. Our city's undeniable desirability, while a testament to its many merits, has inadvertently created a situation where a considerable portion of our community finds itself priced out of the very place they call home, largely due to a constrained housing supply.

To address this critical issue, we must embrace a commitment to building more housing options across the entire spectrum, ensuring that the burden of rent or mortgage becomes more manageable for our residents. As your prospective City Councilperson, I pledge to champion meaningful policies designed to stimulate the creation of new housing and foster a more balanced market, one where the opportunity to reside in our remarkable city is within reach for all. It is imperative that we act decisively to ensure that the fabric of our community remains vibrant and inclusive, allowing your children and grandchildren the same cherished opportunity to live and thrive in Bellevue.

My focus will be on exploring and implementing strategies that encourage diverse housing development. This includes examining zoning regulations to identify opportunities for responsible density increases in appropriate areas, streamlining the permitting process to expedite the creation of new housing units, and exploring innovative financing mechanisms and partnerships to support the development of affordable and workforce housing options. We must also consider policies that protect existing tenants and prevent displacement, ensuring that our long-term residents can continue to call Bellevue home.

By taking a comprehensive and thoughtful approach, we can work towards a future where your children and grandchildren can also live in Bellevue.

My Highest Priorities

Housing & Urban Planning

Housing is a basic need, yet Bellevue’s rising costs have made it increasingly out of reach for many. Limited supply and high demand have priced out too many in our community. As your City Council candidate, I’m committed to expanding housing options across all income levels—so more people can afford to live and thrive in the city they love.

Childcare

Bellevue must strengthen its childcare system to better support families. Too many parents—especially single parents—face the impossible choice between work and affordable, reliable care. This growing gap isn’t just a personal burden; it’s a community issue that affects our workforce and the well-being of our children.

Environmental Stewardship

Extreme weather, like last November’s bomb cyclone, highlights the urgent need for strong environmental action. We must both prepare our community for future climate challenges with resilient infrastructure and emergency planning, and protect our environment long-term—ensuring clean air, safe water, and a healthy future for all.

Economic Development

My vision for Bellevue’s economic growth centers on innovation, sustainability, and equity—especially by supporting our local small businesses. These businesses power job creation, fuel innovation, and shape our city’s unique character. On City Council, I’ll champion policies that help them thrive and drive a vibrant, resilient economy for all.

Public Safety

Bellevue’s future depends on a strong commitment to public safety for all. That means addressing root causes of crime, supporting law enforcement, and building strong community partnerships. I support expanding co-responder teams - pairing officers with mental health professionals - to ensure thoughtful, effective responses to crises and create a safer, more compassionate city.
